MEN’S YOUROLOGY

Can regenerative therapies like shockwave therapy, PRP, or stem cells really help with erectile dysfunction?

A systematic review analyzed 16 randomized trials with over 900 men to find out. The study found that low-intensity shockwave therapy—especially at higher doses—and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections led to meaningful improvements in erectile function based on IIEF scores. While the results are exciting, the researchers caution that more studies are still needed. But for men looking beyond pills, this is promising progress! I personally perform Shockwave therapy in my clinic and see great improvements! Learn more about shockwave therapy and PRP on my YouTube channel!

WOMEN’S YOUROLOGY

Did you know that continuing hormone therapy after age 65 might actually benefit your long-term health?

This large study looked at over 10 million Medicare women and found that those who stayed on estrogen-only therapy after age 65 had a lower risk of dying, and even reduced risks for several major diseases—including breast, lung, and colorectal cancers, heart failure, heart attacks, and dementia. But it’s not one-size-fits-all: risks and benefits varied depending on the type of hormone, how it was taken (oral, vaginal, or patch), and the dose.

Many women assume hormone therapy past 65 is dangerous or unnecessary, but this study challenges that thinking—and suggests that, in certain cases, staying on the right kind of hormone therapy could actually support healthier aging.

This week, someone asked me, “How unusual is it to have uneven testicles? Growing up I experienced many years of uncomfortable pain which ended with one smaller ball. It looks kind of deformed. Is it unusual for this to happen?”. It’s actually very common for testicles to be slightly uneven in size or to hang at different levels—most men have some asymmetry, and it’s usually nothing to worry about. But when you’ve had years of discomfort and now notice one looks smaller or misshapen, that’s a bit different. It could be the result of something that happened earlier in life, like an undiagnosed injury, infection, or a condition like testicular torsion that resolved on its own but caused some damage. It’s not unheard of, but it’s also not something to ignore. I’d really recommend getting a scrotal ultrasound and a physical exam—just to understand what’s going on and make sure there’s no ongoing issue. Peace of mind is important, especially when it’s something that’s been on your mind for years.

I love hearing from you, so if there’s a question you’ve been wanting to ask, just let me know. Who knows? Your question might be the one I dive into next!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM MY CHANNEL

Let’s talk about something that doesn’t get discussed enough: why some sex positions are more likely to help women orgasm—and what science actually says about it. Quote: “Science has helped us figure out which positions are more likely to lead to orgasm.

Here are some quick takeaways:

  • Woman on top, face to face, lets her control the angle and rhythm, boosting the chances of climax.

  • Using a pillow under the hips (especially in missionary) increases pleasure by enhancing clitoral stimulation.

  • Adding things like rocking motions or direct clitoral stimulation (with a hand or toy) seriously ups the odds of orgasm.

Remember, “the key is talking to your partner, experimenting and listening to your own pleasure.” Don’t be afraid to try new things and focus on what feels good for both of you!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM MY PODCAST

I had a really eye-opening conversation with Dr. Will Bulsiewicz all about gut health, probiotics, and just how much your daily habits impact your digestion (and even things like mood and sexual health!). Dr. Will had a great quote that I think sums it up: “We’re not yet at a point where you can do poop testing and diagnose a condition. There’s no such thing as this generic probiotic that is the solution to all of our problems for every single person. That’s silly.

A few super simple takeaways:

  • Adding more fiber (think: plants!) can help almost everyone’s digestion and overall health.

  • Your gut health can affect everything from your mood to your sex life.

  • Small daily habits—like morning sunlight and movement—can make a huge difference.
